When looking at the photos, it's clear that anyone with any understanding of physics would appreciate that it's clearly top heavy, and will require some type of additional stabilization. I have seen similar umbrellas in stores, and they have a much better base. This comes with pre drilled holes for anchoring to cement or wood. I purchased sand bags for mine, as I am using it in the desert to help block the strong sun from my RV when it's not too windy outside. When realizing the basic physics of the structure and design, it's well priced and "performs" as advertised. Just be prepared to either screw down the base and not use it when it's really windy.

we are afraid of it, comes out of stand when the wind blows-hard to put up & down,easy to pinch fingers.

It does give great shade, but it has to be anchored down or it won't stand up. I would have sent back if it wasn't such a hassle to repact and mail it.

Great to use with individual chairs, etc. Note that the base requires being some type of stabilizing such as straps and screws etc.

The "tilting" umbrella falls over! They show it in the pictures just standing there but the truth is you have to use steel rods to pin it down in the grass - cannot be used on concrete. Very disappointed
