Why is One Step Ahead closing?

For many years both One Step Ahead and sister company Montgomery Ward have sold unique One Step Ahead items on their websites. To better serve our customers, we are now offering our great line of One Step Ahead products exclusively at Wards. Employees who worked on the One Step Ahead brand can now devote their time to Montgomery Ward.

Do I have to pay my One Step Ahead bill?

Yes, you are still responsible for your One Step Ahead credit balance. Call Customer Service at 888-557-3851 to pay your bill.

Does Montgomery Ward offer the same products and tips as One Step Ahead?

Yes, and then some! You will still find parenting solutions and child-rearing essentials, along with 1000s of other exciting products to make life easier.

Can I still shop with my One Step Ahead Credit?

One Step Ahead Credit is no longer available, but you can transfer your existing One Step Ahead balance to a new Wards account?or merge your One Step Ahead balance into your Wards account if you currently have both. Request to open or merge your accounts with our Transfer Account Request FormTransfer Account Request Form.

  • Your request to merge or open a new account with Wards may take up to a week to process.
  • You will receive an email confirmation when your account has been merged.

When will my current or new payments be due?

  • If you elect to transfer your existing One Step Ahead balance to a new Wards account, the payment due date on your new account will be set approximately 30 days after the transfer is completed.
  • If you elect to merge your One Step Ahead balance to a Wards account you already have, the payment due date on your Wards account will not change.
  • If you choose not to merge or transfer your One Step Ahead account balance, neither your due date nor your monthly payment amount will change. Your One Step Ahead account will be closed automatically when the account balance is paid in full.

If I transfer my account, will my new payments be more or less?

If your One Step Ahead account balance is combined with your Wards account balance, your new combined payment will likely be lower than paying on two separate accounts. In some cases your Wards payments will remain the same.

If I transfer my account, when will I see my new balance, payment and/or available credit?

Your account balance, due date, monthly payment and available credit will be included on the first Wards statement mailed after the transfer is completed..

What if I am behind on a payment, can I still merge accounts or open a new Wards account?

If you are late on a payment for either account, we will still process your transfer request and work with you to get your payments up to date.
